Not sure if this is the right place to get this information but if not please let me know where. I'm thinking, just thinking, about maybe putting my 1991 Honda Accord LX 4 dr with 76,000 miles up for sale and am wondering what it might really be worth. I am the original owner, it has been garaged all this time, 2 adults only, non-smokers, no pets, practically like new inside/out, all front belts/water pump replaced, and transmission computer repaired.
NADA lists it at $2,425 low retail, $4,000 average retail, and $6,475 high retail.
Any idea if anyone would pay anything around $5,500-$5,900 or if this is really shooting for the moon? I'm definitely not going to give it away. Next year it will fall under a Classic catagory so someone should want it for that reason and not just a cheap old car.
Just looking for suggestions or ideas.

 

I would price it around $4000 so long as the exterior and interior are clean.

 

all about the market, 80s wagons and civics are big on the west coast other places they are rusty junk, 2000 for a running car is reasonable no matter how old

 

Thanks for the replys. $2,000 is probably what someone here in Oklahoma would want to pay for a good running work or school car (which I could never take) but they'd never find a 24 yr-old car as clean as this one. I may have to just keep it since insurance and license tag have just about bottomed out (or take a drive to California and fly home) (just kidding). Course I could keep it another 20 years then maybe it would be worth $25,000-$40,000 like Danny does on Counting Cars (TV). Thanks again guys, I really appreciate it.

 

Hey! Somebody else from Oklahoma! Whereabouts do you live? I have a 1997 Honda Accord LX that I wish was in as good condition as yours is. Only gave $1000 for mine.

 

When I flip cars I always look at who I "plan" to sell it to. Meaning the type of buyer I think will purchase it. A lot of people in my region go for cars with rims and tints, so being a low mileage car with those additions would easily get top dollar! So maybe that could help you. Throw some decent rims on it and tints could help you or look at what's sellling in your area via craigslist for your selling price range.

 

Could you please post some good pictures of the car? And pictures of the wheel well's? I'll give you a price on what I think it's worth after see'in pictures of it lol. What I say you shouldn't care about whoever buys it what their going to do with it... but I would because your the original owner with low miles well taken care of if it's really clean.

 

Sorry about any pictures, I'm about as far behind technology as the Model A is behind the Corvette. No digital camera and no idea how to post pictures even if I had them. The car is as stock today as it was the day I drove it off the sales lot. There is a rub place on the driver's seat about the size of the top of a coffee cup where the driver slides in/out (more of a crush like cordaroy pants) and a couple of very small rock chips on the hood and finder. Other than that there's not a spot on the upholstery anywhere and the carpet has always had rubber mats on it, even the carpet mats have been covered.
Not a bad idea on the rims and tinting but here in our area I'd probably also have to lower the body, install a louder exhaust, and soup up the engine considerably to get the right kind of action on it.
I'll have to check craigslist to see what is selling around here.

 

try selling in dallas or houston big honda scenes and old skools with no rust. or use autotrader.com for access to other markets

 

Are you anywhere near Tulsa, and how much were you wanting? I am going over whether to fix up my current extra car ('99 Accord) for my son, or to buy him a new (used) one. I live in Illinois but have relatives in Tulsa who could pick it up for me if that's the route I go.

 

Sorry so long getting back to you, this last couple of weeks have been really hectic with first one thing then another. Been fighting this lousy computer trying to get my e-mail to work, trying to get Humana to accept the fact i've paid my premium for my prescription drug plan, and having to send my new prescription sunglasses back to the lab 3 times to get it right. None of that should really be any excuse though.

After reading the posts here and the NADA used car prices I'm seeing it ranging anywhere from $1,950 to $6,475 so I'm really undecided what to even ask for the Honda at this time. We're only about 110 miles from Tulsa so when I can come up with a figure I'll give you a holler and see if you've done anything yet. Thanks for the interest in the car.

 

I think you are going to be looking at around 2500-3500 for that car. Your car is in great shape but is not an EX. So you don't have the factory sunroof, alloy rims and abs. With that being said that price is for someone who loves this era honda. Someone who is looking for just a regular car will just offer bottom dollar. Sounds like a nice car though. Try and get some pictures up on here.

 

Wish I could post some pictures but i have neither a digital camera nor the knowhow to use one to transfer pictures to the Forum. Guess you could say I'm pretty much technological handicaped and way behind in time.

Appreciate the suggestion on a selling price. I figured I'd have to find someone who enjoyed older cars for the sake of older cars.
