I purchased this 2003 Ninja 500 with 3182 miles from its 2nd owner in July 2014; he bought it from the original owner with 800 miles. It’s been garage kept since new and it shows. It’s been my daily driver since the week I purchased it and has 6030 miles (as of 1/25, mileage will slowly increase as this is my daily). I've done all the preventative maintenance and it has never given me an issue. Buy it, ride it, and sell it for what you paid.
Upon purchasing, I performed the following maintenance:
Oil change with OEM oil filter and motorcycle specific synthetic @ 32xx miles & 61xx
Clean, Lube and inspect chain /w Chain Wax @31xx miles, 42xx, 50xx & 61xx
Brake fluid flush and bleed /w Motul RBF 600 @31xx miles
Coolant flush and bleed @ 31xx
Cleaned and synced the carburetors @31xx miles
Michelin Pilot Street Radials (The best street tires you can get in the OEM sizes) @34xx miles
Battery Replaced @50xx miles. It was properly charged before installation
Mechanically it is perfect. Cosmetically the bike is good shape except for one spot. The first owner dropped it against the wall of his garage; this cracked the fairing around the left mirror. It is purely cosmetic, and pictured below. It doesn't shake or cause any issues, purely cosmetic.
