Honda Accord, lots of problems.
Just got a 91 Honda Accord EX for a few hundred bucks, automatic transmission. Not sure about mileage because odometer doesn't work and neither does the speedometer. The reading on the odometer is way under the carfax report from years ago.
Many problems. The most expensive repair I worry is the transmission. It accelerates slow in 1st gear. If I put it in low gear, 1 or 2, it's fine and then I'll shift it into D4. Lacks power on tough hills. Also, just coasting down a straight with foot off the accelerater, around 35 mph, the tachometer will go back n forth between between 1000 and 1500 dt the pace of a second. You can also feel it slightly pull and ease up at the same rate.
The belt screaches for a few seconds after starting the engine and also when accelerating when coming out of a tight turn. What belt?
Engine seems to be leaking oil.
The heater and fan doesn't work. I was thinking the thermostat needs to be replaced.
Not sure I want to put a lot of money into it. The only experience I have working on cars is brakes, cooling system and tires. And that was on my Blazer and S-10. This Honda looks really complicated, like everything is wrapped around everything else and I cant fit my hands or arms anywhere lol.

If the ODO from carfax is more than current, then the cluster may have been replaced.
Does your CEL/D4 lamps work? Do they come on when you turn the car to II(ON)? If so go to teh passenger kick panel, and look for a two wire blue connector. Jumper it. Turn the ignition to II(ON) and watch the blinking from the CEL/D4/S/ABS/etc.
Learn to read the code, record it, and post it up here.
