Default Header thoughts for moderate B20V build?

I'm looking into building a B20 bottom end over the course of the season to take the place of my current 81x87 B18C1 block. It's primary purpose is an autocross car, but will sprinkle in some track days in the future. The head is a hand-ported P72, and I'll be shooting for 12-13:1 CR, depending on if I decide to make the switch to E85 (no pump within an hour of my house, but right by where I usually autox), Rocket M24XX cams, already have S2 Ultra IM and 70mm TB.

Currently I have a PLM Toda replica, and I feel like that's not going to be enough. I don't really want to blow all my bugdet on a high $ header just yet as I'd rather stick to buying tires and making sure the bottom end is duct taped together properly. Ground clearance is also a concern in the CRX chassis.

I know I'm asking for a tall order, but something sub-$500 preferably. I've contacted a user on DSO about making one for me but it will be later this year, and that may be the route I take, just exploring all my options.

And yes, I've read the budget header showdown and some other dyno-sheet laden threads doing some testing on similar setups (that's how I arrived at the Toda for the current setup).

The PLM Toda header IS a very good header. IMO unless you're ready to spend some bigger $$ on something custom there would not be a point in buying another "replica" type header just to see minimal gains. That is my opinions, but sub $500 keeps you in the replica headers, or an S2 Alpha unless you can come across a used "specialty header" which most guys still want well over $500 for.

Yeah, it is a pretty good header, just didn't know if there were any choices I was missing. I've got a B16 for my daily and was going to put the Toda rep on it if I found something better for this car.

Agree with above, in that price range your not going to score anything top shelf, and the Toda Reps make good power on bigger bore setups. RMF and the pieces by SMSP have made great power as well. Something to consider also is a lot of the headers that offer the most peak power #s do so at a sacrifice to lower and mid range power, so keep doing your research and make sure to take that into account seeing as your are not a dedicated drag racer and need more than simply max top end grunt in your ride.

Oh yeah, definitely not about top end power. I may just find something to run on my daily until I can get one made. Heck, what's on it will work, it's just dinged up. May have the exhaust shop just clean it up and run my Toda until later.

My setup is an all motor drag case, so I'm tuned mostly for high rpm power, but just to give you a reference point, my B20V makes 220whp and is 12.5:1 84mm bore with CP Pistons, Manley rods, machined stock crank, ACL/Honda bearings, OEM ITR pumps, ported B16a2 head with Supertech VT and Skunk 2 Tuner cams. Currently running an RMF megaphone header and it was worth about 10hp Over the DC Sport I had on there previously.

The Toda replica is a good header as is. If you are looking for other options, I'd suggest either the big tube replica or the Logic/Highend SMSP replica, those 2 would be my personal only other options header-wise.

i tried to get a plm toda rep but they were on backorder or whatever, so i grabbed this toda rep from 1320 performance. its certainly some ebay **** but it took the weld that my buddy laid on there for the egt bung nicely, and it fits great. the toda reps seem to be the best "all around" header
