Default Port and Polish Question. Do I grind this down?

I have a Y8 head and I'm doing a polish job on it, I noticed on the intake valve side the aluminum is build up right before the valve seat. Do I grind this down level and smooth it out? Or should i leave it alone and just smooth it out?
Thanks

Each one has this aluminum build up, I feel like it should be chewed down because its a hump that seems like it would disrupt the airflow and render the whole point of the port/polish job pointless. Adding JB weld, therefore adding more material will not help my cause and does not answer my question. Why would I add more material when it seems that the factory has already put far too much?

Contact Elias Joe Alaniz, look up his facebook best head porter in CA I know, he will answer all your questions. He's very very well known in the head porting and engine building world.

If your very confident in your abilities you can smooth/blend out the casting flaws like that, if your not so faithful then just leave the hump and polish everything smooth and leave it at that. Whatever you do just take your time and be careful. Porting correctly is a science, especially when it comes to cyl heads; chop it up too much and you will start to work against yourself and cause more turbulence and disruption in flow than you had to begin with. Also don't tear up the orbital area or you could wind up with valve sealing issues as well.

Thanks, I've been cleaning it up pretty well so far and it's all going well. Having a steady hand and I'm using an air compressor and die grinder with a regulator so I can control what I'm doing. Not touching the valve seats at all Would it be that much more beneficial to take those humps out? My common sense says yes, but I feel like the factory had them for a reason. Thoughts?

While it is impossible to gauge the effectiveness of your porting without a flow bench, I would say yes, grind that down so that it s smoothly contoured in a smooth and consistent manner. Do not cut into the valve seats at all. The ports should be consistent throughout the head and the inside of the bowls should look something like this:
