Default Fresh build. B18c gsr. Start up and oil pouring oil.

Got everything together on my build did start up, fired up and oil immediately was pouring out.. Not from valve cover... The only place I really see oil is on the top of the transmission bell housing... I noticed the top tranny bolts weren't torqued down.. so I torqued them immediately.. I really only see oil on the rear side of engine between the block and the head.. I'm either wondering if I put headgasket on upside down or rear main seal...but if I remember right that head gasket only went on one way because of the design for the ports.

So lost. Don't know whether to take off head. What the hell can cause such oil lost. Literally doesn't read on dipstick anymore. Can that much oil come out of the head if was misaligned or upside down gasket?

Hey man- the first time i tried to do a headgasket and i fired it up it poured out just as you are describing, like leaking out all of it everywhere. The tranny bolts dont have any relation to losing oil.. My fix was the threads for the head bolts had got alot of oil in them from when i pulled the head, so i was getting false torque readings on the head bolts. I had to remove the head, and blow out the threads of the block with compressed air and re torque everything. Im guessing your head isnt torqued down properly. With the problems you describe id say pull the head and try again...Its pretty easy to place the headgasket properly, there should be a metal tab sticking out of the front left of where the head and block meet. Good luck!

Think maybe the oil is coming from the head gallery's ? A lot of oil came out. Idk I just ordered up another headgasket and studs so guess I'll try again.

keep it simple

if oil is leaking it must have a hole somewhere.
visually inspect everything until you find it

its NOT MISTERY

It happens to a lot of people, but usually only once. Lesson learned!

but the gasket even says up on the side that should be up jk!

dont worry we all make our mistakes. last month i forgot to put the outer guide washer on the lower crank pulley. thats what i get for working late. good news is you wont make this mistake again and are now gonna be up and running with the new motor.
