Default '04 Accord Coupe V6 6MT noise from left rear

I have this noise coming out of the left rear of my car. The noise happens primarily (but not exclusively) when I'm taking a gentle left turn on the road/highway. If I drive straight or in a gentle right turn then it doesn't happen.

The sound is a not very loud but clearly audible low frequency (maybe 10 Hertz) sound of a combination of tapping & cracking.

I've tried putting bunched up plastic bags under the gas door; no change. I've tried putting bunched up plastic bags under the trunk compartment cover on the left side; no change. I've tried to tie the two bowden lines (trunk opening/gas door opening) to other cables; no change.

Is it possible that this noise is coming from the left rear shock absorbers? Is there any cheap & obvious way to test this theory?

Have a friend wiggle the rear of the car by hand while you lay on the ground and listen/look.
