Dan's 1990 EF Sedan Build
Hey there Honda-Tech, I figured I'd showcase the build I'm doing, and can share my knowledge of body and paint work with those who might consider taking on the task of doing it themselves.
I picked up the car for 1000$ from some girl who used it to cart her kids around. It was a stock worn out D15B2 with an automatic trans. Slower than snot. I happened to have a 5spd tranny and 1.5 block laying around and my buddy donated a Z6 head, and Y8 intake. So we dropped the swap in less than 2 weeks of me owning the car, simply because this car was so slow it was dangerous. I wasn't able to get up to speed fast enough in onramps before being forced to merge into 70-80mph traffic at 55mph.
I picked up some CRX swirlies and thought they would fit the car nicely
One of the major projects was fixing the headliner and sunroof situation. As most of you would know, the sedans didnt come with sunroofs. Remarkably this one was installed very nicely except for they did not remake a headliner for it. Instead, they opted to taking a boxcutter to it.
So I took it out and found a new one at the junkyard in decent shape and decided to recover it myself. I didn't want to risk having the sunroof leak by using it, so I opted just to cover it up
Random before and after of the carpets. I used a can of silver spray paint to 'dye' them.
I lucked out and found a sedan with the same color interior that was mint in the junkyard, so I pulled all 4 door panels, steering wheel, and a couple other misc. items.
...and the start of the rust repair and body work
the car had been resprayed before and they did some poor bodywork, and the panels are generally just wavy with some minor dings. So I'm going to prime the whole car and block it down. Mind you that this is my daily driver, and all the work I do has been a few hours after work at the shop each day.
The quarter had a pretty nasty bubble of rust that someone has filled full of seam sealer and painted over.
I did the initial blocking with 80 grit, and then knocked it down to 180 before priming. I prepped up the rest of the panel and trunk with 320 before laying 3 heavy coats of black high build primer on it, so it will give me enough build to really give this thing a good blocking when it's ready
I was sitting at work looking at the car today and decided I would pick at a little rust bubble that I noticed on the driver side rocker by the rear wheel.
well... its funny what that little bubble turned into...
Tomorrow after work I will tackle that.

Good work and nice sedan!!! I have an EF sedan is rougher shape that I will be attempting body work on for the 1st time in spring. Looking to take some pointers from your build, thanks for sharing!!!
