Hey guys. Quick question that I hope doesn't break my wallet. Lol

So when I turn to the right I get a weird sound from the left. Kinda like something is over stretched and grinding. Is this a cv axle? I'm gonna put it up on a jack later and check boots clamps etc. Anything i should check while i got it on the jack?

From a little research yes it sounds CV joint. Don't drive like this unless you want to be doing two wheels until you flip.

 

Start by checking whether the wheel splash guard is bent and rubbing on the brake rotor or whether the brake pads are low, causing the wear indicator to sound.

 

I checked all that. Brake pads, caliber, etc. No rubbing. What I did find was the boot on the cv axle on the hub has a 2-3" rip. It has grease and stuff in it. Didn't spot dirt or stuff that shouldn't be there. Should I go ahead and get a new cv axle? Or new boot? Rather be safe than sorry. Lol

 

Replace the axle and then go from there.
