Default transmission

2000 Honda civic ex
I will begin my problem from the start. My car started leaking coolant after I changed the thermostat. So I ran out of coolant one day and added water. My luck that night it got below zero and my coolant in radiator and lines froze. Well I seen before someone dump hot water on the radiator and lines until they thawed and was warm. I was in a hurry to an important meeting. I started car and it got me to meeting and back. Once I got back brained fluid some and added straight coolant. Drove around to mix it all up. I then woke up the next morning started the car drove to store 5 miles away. I drove back home left the car on because there was no heat but, car register warmed up. I was inside 5 to ten mins came out and put car in reverse. Car made a loud clanking noise /knock and died. I then tried to start car and it would just knock. I waited a week until the temperature rose and went out and car started right up. SSounds fine. I let it run for a min and look around car for fluid leaks. Before I started car I checked all the fluids. They we're fine. I went to put into reverse and it did not move until 3000 rpm. I then put in drive to try and put it in the same spot and same thing. I waited for car to fully warm up and tried again but however this time it did not move. What could be wrong

Check the axles. One may be broken or popped out of the differential.

Not sure what kind of car you are talking about.

Also, if it's an automatic, you might want to check your transmission fluid. If the trans-cooler ruptured into the engine coolant part of the radiator when the freezing occurred you could be incurring major damage to the transmission.

If the transmission fluid isn't a clear red fluid and is really murky, you've probably guaranteed your transmission to fail soon.

I have a 2000 Honda civic and I did not think about coolant getting into transmission.

The transmission fluid is not murky but it is not red it is a light brown kind of like the color of fresh engine oil

Still see through is good, brown color like motor oil is not.

Sounds like the trans cooler and radiator are still separate like they are supposed to be.

Sounds like your transmission oil is burnt and not providing the protection it should, you could try the 3x3 drain and fill technique but odds are the damage is already done.
