05 Civic motor knock coming from valve cover.
I have a 2005 Honda Civic LX sedan with manual transmission. It has 197,000 miles. Always used Mobil 1 synthetic oil and filters since new every 5000 miles.
Motor had a hard start other day in -5f temp. Seemed to have a mild rough idle that vibrated frame. Rough idle smoothed out then came back after stopping for a refuel. Shortly afterwards driving down the road I heard a knocking that appeared to be from the motor that progressively got louder. Upon returning home knocking became intermediate and came and went when idling but returned when pressing gas pedal. Sounds like noise is right under valve cover. Check engine light came on and began to blink. Timing belt was changed at honda dealership at 108000 miles. Oil and filter was replaced 1100 miles ago and is at full mark on dipstick. What could be wrong and approximate cost to repair? Wondering if vehicle is worth repairing ?

something went wrong it sounds like a a rod knocking. it may be time for a new engine
