1999 Honda Accord, Replaced Swap Engine, No Fuel, No Start
I actually solved my own problem fortunately only after 20 minutes of troubleshooting. I wanted to include this as a search reference if anyone else comes along the same problem.
Car: 99 Accord Lx
- The vehicle had a blown engine and I replaced it with a junkyard engine. Sometimes I'll jump ahead and try to briefly start the engine before assembling the drivetrain, radiator, power steering, alternator, etc. I do this to check that the engine is indeed good and runs. If it's not then I have less time disassembling to take the engine back out. I've been stuck with a bad engine once from a yard (was knocking) hence the reason I jump ahead.
Symptoms: No Fuel. The engine WILL run on ether. I have spark and I also have fuel to the rail. Didn't check fuel pressure. Main relay is good. Checked the spark plugs and they have no fuel on them.
The problem: I did not have the alternator connected. Evidently the 4 pin plug provides either a ground or power to the fuel injectors. I'm not sure which other specific Honda models this applies to but I presume it does for the 98-02 Accord.
So, anyhow, if you're not getting fuel to the injectors make sure the damn alternator is connected.
