Default B18C1 into a 5spd EJ8 EX Coupe

Hey everyone. I'm helping my buddy swap in a 96 GSR B18c1 into his black 98 EJ8 5spd coupe dseries vtec. I'm starting this thread to gather help from everyone.

So far we have disconnected everything from the existing D series and it is pretty much ready to pull but it's too cold out as the car is outside.

Right now we have the B18c1 on an engine stand and are doing everything we can in the garage where it is warm.

B18c1
new timing belt kit
new valve cover seal kit
new oil pan seal
using the d series alternator with some modification
we still need a b series distributor
we have a gsr ECU
AEM fuel rail/fpr w/ stock b18 injectors
we need a new tpms and iacv as they got smashed
we need a new crank pulley
b series radiator hoses
exhaust gasket and b series header
gsr axles and half shaft
new clutch/flywheel/pp
using factory ej8 harness
extension of the Vtec lines and CKF Sensor

Supposedly we have a b16 LSD trans but it has NO markings on it anywhere. Is there anyway I can verify that it is a b16 LSD trans?

We bought these mounts.. at a glance 2 of the 3 look like they will work but not the 3rd.. kind of hard to tell tho, are these the right mounts?
Innovative Mounts 96 00 Honda Civic B D Series Mount Kit for 3 Bolt Post Mount | eBay

These are the 2 things I'm most curious about as well as the mounts we bought:

Shift Linkage for EK’s you will need either 99-00 Civic Si shift linkage or any 94-01 Integra shift linkage. Del Sol B-Series, DA and any Civic besides 99-00 Si will not work.

Motor Mounts you can use your stock engine mounts but you will need a 99-00 B16A2 or Si driver’s side engine post as well as 99-00 B16a2 or Si rear L bracket. If you have a B16A2 swap you will be fine but any other swap will require these two items whether you use your stock engine mounts or aftermarket mounts.

These two things came from an EK tutorial I found. Is this the same for the EJ? Do I need to source 99-00 civic si linkage or 94-01 integra linkage? Will these work directly with the b16 cable trans that we supposedly have?

Do I need both of those same engine brackets from a b16a2? It looks like the driver side is only for EK?

Does using a b16 (supposedly) and if so I assume it's OBD1 unlike our civic which is OBD2 and motor which is also OBD2, will we need to do anything sensor/wiring wise for the trany?

Anything else we should look into?

Thanks

Ever since 2012 there were guides online that tell you what you need on all that you ask.

Thanks Tony!

I've read every article I can find. Got any articles on swapping into an EJ8? One that was 5spd from the factory? That would be a great help. Everything I've found is for an EK or something else.

Because people are stupid, and think that every 96-00 Civic is an EK. If it says it's for an EK...it'll work for your car. No one would do a write-up for installing a B series in a proper EK, because the only EKs people care about (EK4 and EK9) already have a B series in them.

It's all the same.

As for identifying the transmission, that's easy. Look through the differential. That's where the axle and halfshaft go into the transmission. Can you see straight through it, or is there a bar running across the hole? No bar = LSD. Bar = open differential.

They're basically the same unless you have an ex in which the wiring is basically simpler for the most part. Mounts, shift linkage, axle info are the same.

And this is why you do research before spending money on things. It could also be a phantom grip, or a welded diff, which would still have the bar, but...yeah, no. That isn't really an LSD, and for a daily driven car, it's dumb, borderlining on "******* stupid".

Thanks again Tony!

Can any of you confirm that the innovative mounts purchased above are the correct mounts?

Thanks for the help.
