Its a 97 ex 5-spd with a d16y8. Bought it like 2 months ago and it runs like a dream. clutch feels nice shifts great.

Should i really change my fluid if nothing feels wrong???
I know in autos with higher mileage on the trans, changing fluid can just mess everything up. new detergents just eat things the older fluid wasnt.

So should i just do a drain and fill or do something else??? kinda like a trans flush idk...

 

You have a 5 speed. 5 speeds and autos are completely different. Forget everything you know about autotragic transmissions. Yes, you should change the fluid.

 

Yes change the fluid. The last two i bought had gear oil in them...frigging gear oil.

For God sakes when you change it use Honda mtf or 10w30

 

Redline MTL, Honda MTF, or GM syncromesh friction modified. Do it.

 

Redline eats the plastic bearing cages. Torco MTF is great though.

 

There isn't any proof to that. Just a member that thinks it does. Realtime racing used it for years with no issues.
