Default The Hunt For Black Octobers badge #

hi all my name is mike, some of the guys in here can vouch for me (since i know that means alot in the HT world, especially the R forums) but im finally a official R owner. the best part is i think its fate i own the R i own.

01- NBP R (vin verifed on my acura)

i purchased her from a long time friend cheap, when he just recently had his first child. im currently over halfway with the rebuild process to get her running again. but thats for later talk.

the car when purchased by my friend had a blank badge on the armrest, and he was told that the original owner kept the badge as keep sake of some sort. he also inquired with the guy to know on HT about the badge numbers. and said based on vin it was in some range. but i want to find the original number and be sure. well ive done all the homework i can, seen all the theories and finally came upon something intresting. well i started off on the internet, seen the theories of badge numbers being random, being a few off the engine code. ive also seen the cars made in batches by color etc etc based on the registries. but what i did do, was i got a carfax ran on the car which revealed a clean title with a owner or 2 who put less than 1000 miles on it in the years the car was owned by each. (meaning someone loved the car hopefully). Well after staring at the carfax for a hour today trying to come up with something, i started from the beginning. the car was purchased brand new in january of 01 from a dealership rite near my HOMETOWN. AWESOME. so i called the dealership which i know for a fact is still open to see if i can get some kind of info on her from the records if possible. talked to a sales guy who said sales records were deleted after 10 years. ****. well we talked for a few and ended up with the idea maybe the service department has records. transfer over and BOOM. guy is a former HT member who helped me a **** ton. gave me some official dates of when the car was purchased and other useful info. but this is where it gets intresting...... he found something that said the cars "MODEL NUMBER" which was "DC2###" ( i actually have the 3 numbers just didnt want to post them quite yet)........ now my question to you all, since ie done the research online where the search of a integra model number comes up with nothing anywhere, have any of you guys seen this number before and know what it is? could it be the badge number? which it just so happens to be missing from the registry........ and fits my color in the batches.

well i stopped there on that lead, well my gf came up with the smart idea of "hey you have the carfax, try and cross dates and forsale threads on the forums to look for the car, find past owners, and ask" well ****, maybe she is good for more than sexy time and sandwiches. so i got to work. after a lil bit of searching the DREADFUL search engine on HT i found it.

but no badge number posted and when asked for it, no response from anyone, i shot him a PM but he hasnt been on HT in years..... so my hopes are that someone up here knew him, or the car, or maybe bought the car, or maybe knew someone who did. any help or creative ideas would be awesome. im determined to rebuild my new main chick to her glory.
