1999 Honda Accord Battery Trouble
I'd like to inquire about my problem with my 1999 Accord (ULX?) that I started experiencing after it got its transmission fixed. A few days after the transmission got fixed the car's alarm decided to start acting up going off when it wasn't and unlocking the car with the remote would randomly set it off as well so I got the assumption it was the alarms fault the battery started getting drained. I've now had to carry my portable jump start device since the battery doesn't even last 2 hours after I've stopped using the car. Any tips or hints at what to look for maybe on some loose wiring or what might help my predicament be over with. Please and thanks beforehand for anyone that drops in a word.
You sound like you have a parasetic draw, killing your battery. To find the draw, you will need a VOM. Put it on Amps, then disconnect the negative battery cable. Touch the negative wire, with the Red lead, then touch the battery post with the black lead. You will see a current draw. Now, you need to, one at a time, remove your fuses(I would start with the alarm) All the while watching the current indication on your VOM. When the number drops to zero, or close to it. Youve found the offending circuit. Then you need to figure out what is on that circuit...and find the short.
So I went and bought a multimeter for this as it will be shown below the meter reading 0.84 but I'm not sure if I set it up right but after going through all the fuse boxes as shown below aswell none really brought it to 0 but I'm also assuming it's because I didn't clamp down the needles since before I went to the passenger fuse box it was reading in the .30s Edit: I figured out one of my problems I didn't trick the car into thinking its doors were closed when I went to look into the driver and passenger fuse boxes so I'll edit this again with whatever I end up finding
Edit2: So I went and did it right tricked the car and all and when I pulled the 7.5 from the first picture right under the 20 the multimeter dropped to 0 and the culprit is Clock Back up for the moment I left the fuse removed
