Default balance shafts for road racing

On H/F engines. What is the consensus here for road course driving? We all know removing the balance shafts can be beneficial for drag racing and sometimes street driving. But is this a good mod for extended high rpm sessions? How many have been tracking successfully (several track days) without? Issues? Or just as reliable as stock? Is H23A more prone to vibration/ broken parts than f20B due to longer stroke?

They have nothing to with the internal balance of the engine, they just help to cancel out the vibration the engine produces as a whole i.e. the vibration you feel in the car while the engine is running. I hope that makes sense.

I think some of those same vibrations do add some extra stress on the crank or bearings though. Obviously for street driving or short high rpm spurts in drag racing this is fine. But for continuous high RPM use I would have the same concerns

I have had them out on all my motors; h22a, h22a1 and f20b on my road course car. Remove them and free some hp. There is 20X more vibration coming out of my hasport motor mounts but that's another story. The h23 will have more load on the walls due to the larger stoke but people have road raced with them as long as it is maintained properly.

hmmm ok. Its seems like there are arguments to support both sides but I think ill try for the extra hp, response & weight loss. The extra oil pressure scares me a bit, the oil pump is already bouncing off the 80 psi spring with the shafts intact and spinning. Plus you would think the shafts make life easier on the bearings. But if its working for 2fast and other racers, it should be good. I do hear you on the Hasports... Lately I've been running a Hasport rear mount and rubber side mounts, which helps but is not ideal.

As far as mounts go, I'm using Innovative Mounts with the gray inserts, in case you want a recommendation. Balance shaft belt is off, and vibration isn't terrible. This is without the front mount, too. Once I put that on I expect vibration to be minimal

B series don't have balance shafts.

Driver comfort. That's it.
