87 honda civic si
Hey man, I just picked up a 86 si, plan on doing a b series swap. Hassport and innovative make mounts. Here's a link to some basic instructions to the swap. I'm new to this car and still researching what would be a cheaper swap to a "newer" engine. Would like to have something that revs beyond 8k tho.
Installation instructions for a B-series Engine into a 84-87 Honda Civic CRX
AFB1? - B-Series (AF) - 84-87 Civic/CRX (AF) - Civic/CRX - Mounts

So This Motor/Tran Would Work?
Sorry im such a noob.
Boosting the stock motor would probably be an easier way to make more power. You can always just do it old school. Here is a proven recipe.
-10:1 vortech fmu
-walbro 255
-Any turbo you want really that has an internal gate. Id utilize the factory manifold. Just buy or make an adapter to the t2 or t3 flange. The t25 t28 would work great. Lots of people run the Godspeed EMUSA CX racing ones and get away with it. The trick is to run the correct oil feed restrictor* and have a big enough drain.
-Have exhaust shop connect down pipe to original exhaust system.
-Retard base timing a few degrees.
-Just some sort of intercooler ebay or the dsm (talon gst gsx ones work). Couple pipes and some lowes couplers if you want. (they work ok..)
-Just some kind of pod filter.
-Honda has a MAP so youll need a one way check valve so it doesn't know your boosting. You could just use a brake booster valve from a junk yard or buy a fancy missing link."
-Just vent pcv to atmosphere.
VERY IMPORTANT --->
Don't run more than 6 pounds*** with an fmu tho or you--> WILL smoke the injectors.
Below 6 pounds it is perfectly safe to do.
A wideband would be a plus but I never ran on just checked plugs like you would for nitrous.
Ive done that setup multiple times on nissans and seen it on Hondas. It has limitations but it will be equivalent power to any swap mentioned above. It is also in most cases is way cheaper. The ebay kits going for 800$ or so are the best way to go.
If you must swap id say go big or go home... h22
Super street did an article a while back on one ran 11.88 (h22 with bolt ons)

I had an 85 hf i put a high comp freshly rebuilt b18b1 into. its an expensive and timely swap. heres what i used though
b18b1 longblock
aftermarket header and exhaust
b16 cable tranny w/ ls 5th
hasport mounts
hasport axels
pre-da teg hubs
crx si fuel tank
bosch 440 in line fuel pump as secondary
del sol complete chasis and engine harness to convert car to obd1
p28 ecu chipped on crome
gm 3bar map sensor
ef sir shift linkages modified to correct length
ignition, fuel pump, and starter ran off switches
del sol harness simply controls engine and ecu leave the crx harness to control lights and everything else for ease of wiring.
