I am looking for 3" i.d stainless steel tubing. Where is a good source? I am not having any luck on google...just 3" o.d. I need 3" i.d for my down pipe.

Op, thanks for the site. However, I am still only seeing 3" o.d. I need 3" I.d for a true 3" down pipe and catback. Or am I just blind? Lol. I looked under aluminum, unpolished, and polished tubing.

I might just have to live with 3" o.d tubing

 

tubing is measured by the OD, pipe is measured by ID. youre not gonna find 3" ID tubing. i would just go to 3.25 if its that big of an issue.

 

Yeah but there has to be a supplier somewhere because Thermal has true 3" exhausts so not sure where they are getting their pipe from....

 

you're talking about .063", that's only 1/16". one way or another, it is still 3" pipe/tube/whatever

even if you do find it, you're going to have a hard time finding flanges and such to match it since they are machined to accept 3" OD, not ID

 

Maybe ask Thermal then?

 

Flanges aren't an issue. I will use a plasma cutter. I wills just settle for the other 3".

To the op, I very highly doubt Thermal is going to tell me where they get their stuff and lose a sale. I can try but I doubt it.....

 

Tell them its for an application they don't make. i.e. V8 swapped 1988 bmw 325IX No sale lost.

I know I'm repeating what everyone else has already said but I'm not aware of a single stainless tube manufacturer that will guarantee the ID of any tube. 3.125" OD x 0.065" tube is available; however, the cost is astronomical compared to 3" OD x 0.065 (16ga) tube.

 

Just get 16 gauge 3" tubing. That's your best choice for exhast tubing.

3" OD 0.065" is 2.875" ID +/- 0.03".

It's perfectly possible that an exhaust manufacturer is running 3.0" ID tubing. It's not that much more expensive to get things rolled to your specs when you are doing volume. All of our 1-7/8" and 2-1/8" tubing is custom rolled for us.
