ZC Blockr & 89 Teg Head??
You use the cam gears that match whatever block you're running.
ZC block = ZC cam gears
The ZC gears gave 34 teeth. The Integra gears have 40. You are correct in that you cannot mix them!

What if I use a DOHC ZC head on a 89 Integra block, will that work? Cause I am thinking about getting a complete block from the junkyard. My block is messed up, and I want to rebuild it. I have a perfectly good ZC head. Would the 89 Integra block work though?

mating a d16a1 block with a zc head would be a good setup if you live in cali.. the legal stamp on the block. has anyone done this, and what would be the power output?

D16A1 block, D16A1 head --> 1st gen = Yes, 2nd gen = NO
D16A1 block, ZC head --> 1st gen = Yes, 2nd gen = NO
(Black Top) ZC block, ZC head --> 1st gen = NO, 2nd gen = Yes

The brown top ZC uses the same mount points as the D16A1.

I belive you can just swap over the ZC Crank gear on the D16a1 and still use the ZC cam gears... but you will need to use a ZC T-belt part # 14400-PK2-004

Well the only reason I would even contemplate this is because of my ZC block i have, has a stripped bolt hole in the block. Its a head bolt hole. I want to turbo this motor when I rebuild it, so I dont know what to do. If it would be easy to just buy an 88-89 integra block from the junkyard, they are a plenium here.. Every corner there is one, so I could get the complete block for like 50 bucks. Or try to find a shop to rethread the head bolt threads... Not sure whta to do, anyone ever had this happen?
You CAN put a 86-89 Integra block into a 2nd gen CRX, but it really is a hack job (to put it nicely). The mounts are in completely different places and the one guy that I saw who managed to do it had to leave a couple of the tranny bolts out...not good.

Fix your ZC block. Have a machine shop drill out the messed up hole and install a helicoil. Then use ARP headstuds for your turbo buildup.

Okay well I will try something. I found one place that owuld do it for 50 bucks. Would helicoil hold up good? Or if the motor gets hot will it back out the bolt?
