Default Hood Cable disconnected

Hello, first time poster here.

I have a 1991 Honda Civic STD. The hood release cable has become disconnected and I am having trouble figuring out how to reattach it.

I've removed the front bumper and located the disconnected cable.

Does anyone have a diagram/video/explanation of how to put this back together, or at least manually release the hood? Thank you.

Looks like it's still connected to me, just stretched out and full of slack now. Is it still connected at the interior pull lever?

So that square bracket with the circular hole is the mechanism which the ball catches when you pull the interior lever... I see.

I couldn't get it to budge with my hands (I didn't want to force anything and break it), I just assumed it was a bracket which guided the cable to another connection or something.

The cable is connected to the lever in the car, but it must be broken/really stretched out somewhere in the middle. I will try do something like this until I can get a new cable:

Should I be able to press that square bracket with a screw driver to open the hood? Maybe the cable stretched out because that bracket is stuck?

Thanks

Yes that square bracket with the round hole gets pulled toward the passenger side which releases the hood. If you can push/pull it with your hand or a screwdriver or something you'll accomplish the same thing

It was stuck good, but I got it to pop. Here's a good video of the mechanism someone pm'd me. Thanks everyone.

Hope you are putting on a new cable, it's a pretty easy fix.
