Default 1997 accord

I recently bought a 97 accord. I was getting some smoke from under the steering wheel. WHen I took a look I had loads of melted wiring. Turn signal, horn, head lights, wiper wiring all melted together. I replaced it all with used wiring from a salvage yard. Now my small lights fuse keeps blowing. There was an after market stereo that was removed before I bought the car. I've since taped off all the wiring individually. I've checked the visor wiring as well. Any ideas here guys?

Verify that the stereo wire harness is correctly repaired and returned to original.
Hack stereo installs can have some 'ingenious' splicing.

the original stereo harness is still in the car, the end is clipped and electrical taped, all wires taped up separately

Tends to reason...if it was working before, and it burned up, then you repaired it. The problem is with the repair.

I thought the same thing, there were no spliced wires or anything of that nature, literally just replacing a whole harness with new sound wires. I'm thinking that if wires got hot enough to melt under the wheel maybe on the next harness up they melted as well? Thanks for all the help guys!

Power for the dash lights runs through the radio. May need to have the radio installed to properly have the lights function.

I'm looking at a '97 Accord right now with 180200 miles on it.. I absolutely love everything about it, it's the Special Edition (I really don't know the difference from the EX besides keyless entry! Anything else?) and I've heard so many high mileage stories. My reason for this post is because I'd love to know if anyone can hit me up with some info on the risks of buying a used car with high roadtrip mileage. If it wasn't for the roadtrips, I'd buy this in a heartbeat! Thanks guys.

My 97 just went over 180000 the other day. I drive it ALL over the place. I wouldnt hesitate to do a 4 hour road trip to atlanta. Just make sure the maintenance is up to date.
