Default Timing belt service soon, question about tensioner

Hello, so my gf picked up a 2001 lx, odometer reading 144k. Previous owner not knowing if timing has ever been serviced, this weekend I'll be having a project. Searching, reading topics many have been having issues after 20k-30k the tensioner going out. Would this be the reason from an aftermarket kit coming from your local parts store? If so, is it recommended to just order the tensioner from the dealer?

Many do say they tighten the tensioner at 33 ft lbs and turn motor 2 full rotations and then pull pin, continue on with turning the motor once again. Thanks in advance you guys.

I am a tech for Honda & have never had to replace a tensioner on the 01-05 civics. The tensioner is automatic w/ a spring, unlike the older style which were manual w/ the help of a spring. When you get it apart you will see a slot for a 6mm hex key on the body of the tensioner, Put a hex key in the slot & move the tensioner to release the tension on the belt. DO NOT TOUCH the spring like you use to have to do on the older models. If you do there is a whole procedure on how to reset it. Other then that it is a straight forward job.
