Default Question about rough feeling with new tranny mount

I have an 06 ex sedan(non Si) and today had my work replace the tranny mount on the driver's side. Before the repair it would "clunk" every time when I let out the clutch, and had very "jerky" shifting. So far with new mount seems like shifts smoother the way it should, but sorta feels like a rougher ride on that side. Is this typical with a new tranny mount on the 1.8L? Please help!

Give it some time. Maybe it needs to be broken in?

That's one of the things I was thinking, its just I couldn't shift smooth to save my life before the tranny mount got changed today. Never had to change the tranny mount on a Honda before so don't know what to expect etc. BIG difference!! The only other problem is the aftermarket EXEDY clutch which I'm told is like a step up from the stock one just grabs real hard and quick.

Best I can describe it, sounds like a Subaru STI with aftermarket exhaust from inside the car but on drivers side only.

has this happened to you davesi? Only concerned because hope its not doing damage to the car when I drive it. One tech at work said it could be a poly mount that they make more noise but are more sturdy that the stock rubber mounts. I don't know if those have a different visual look to them?

They won't look different I don't think, but if you were to touch them poly mounts are usually smoother than rubber. When I put in my Boomba mounts the car rattled like crazy for about a week and then it died off. Now I don't notice the difference unless I give it gas at low RPMs.

How long since the mount has been replaced, and has it gotten better?

It was replaced last saturday. Do poly mounts have the same color as other rubber ones. Someone told me sometimes they're a different color. I can try to post a video clip of inside car while driving but not sure how to post videos. My tech friend said he will look at it again today and take it on a longer test drive.

It really depends on how much driving you do. It took me about a week and it was gone.

A friend of mine took him 2 weeks but he doesn't drive as much as I do.

You can get aftermarket poly mounts that may be red from energy suspension, or proline (I think) uses yellow poly for certain applications. If you're going OEM replacement they're usually black.

Yeah I only put 34 miles a day on it 5 days a week. Just use the car for commuting to work and back so it doesn't get many miles on it. I'm guessing it's an OEM poly mount. It's black in color. It's a brand called Weststar. One other question...is a little engine vibration with new tranny mount normal?

Most of the time, until it is broken in, yes.

and I say "most of the time" because there are different stiffness-es to poly. If you only drive 15 miles a day, then it is going to take longer to work the material.

I have Boomba torque mounts. They were awful with the vibrations for about 3-4 days, but then I put on about 200-250 over the course of those 3 days and gave them a proper work out. Now they're smooth as silk at idle.

Seriously, go on a long trip or something and don't worry so much about it. If you keep thinking of it, it'll never go away.
