2001 civic lx won't start
Hello all
I have a 2001 civic lx that died on my wife this morning. When we got it home it just cranks and cranks but won't start no check engine light no obvious issue. I smell fuel when I cranks it and when I pulled the plugs they were wet so I am pretty sure it's getting fuel. I checked all four coils and I have spark. I tried some starter fluid and it won't start with that either. My firemen who is a mechanic place his modis computer from snap on on it and main relay is working as well as crank sensor and cam sensor. Any ideas ? It acts like it wants to start but it doesn't . Thank you

sounds like you have two of the three things you need to run ,spark and fuel . how about compression? does it crank evenly? does it crank faster than normal? will it start if you crank it with throttle held wide open?(flooded, this will put ECU in clear flood mode and it wont inject any additional fuel)
have your mechanic buddy do a compression test if you have good compression use compression tester hose to see if spark is occuring at the right time during cranking (should get a puff out compression tester hose at same time spark occurs for that cylinders COP) how worn are the spark plugs? (should be a .043 gap), has timing belt been done?
if low compression it might have washed down cylinders(flooded) ,in which case pull the plugs out and either dry cylinders with compressed air or let sit awhile and naturally dry out ,then add some engine oil (approx teaspoon)to each cylinder ,redo compression test and see if numbers improve ,if much better compression install plugs and try to start

Thanks for the info we have done everything you mentioned except compression test. Doing that tomorrow. As far as how it sounds it doesn't sound abnormal at all it actually sounds like it has no gas however it's a full tank.I will keep plugging away at it
