Default 00 civic si, JDM b16, ctr tranny w/LSD - fuses and emissions.

I've got a 2000 civic si. JDM b16, ctr tranny w/LSD. I jumped my ecu, and found out that a have a code 41(primary oxygen sensor heater). But, when I plug my scanner into my obd port, it says that it can't communicate with the car. Maybe a cigarette lighter fuse, and if it is, where is the fuse specifically. Sorry, new to car stuff and just got the car 3 days ago. Any thing helps. Thanks.

What specific ECU? I believe that OBD2 JDM ECUs, like OBD1 ECUs, cannot communicate with code readers.

make sure there's battery voltage on pin 16 of the obd port. also check that theirs ground on pins 4 and 5. if you got power, trace the communication wires back to the ecu. could be just not connected for some reason when they did the swap.

I'm not exactly sure how to upload images. But it says b16a VTEC m/t. Has 3 big plugs going into it. Has some Japanese writing on it. Barcode and under barcode, says:

jdm ecu

You're not going to get anything out of it from the obd port. Go replace your o2.

From googling its either a jdm ecu or an obd1 ecu. the obd2 port is not going to work with it.

Yeah. It is rectangle shaped. I just contacted the previous owner and he said that its JDM. So how would I do emissions testing than? If the obd2 port doesn't work?

Can I just buy a usdm b16 ecu, plug it up and then take it to emissions?

Find an obd2b p2t ecu, which is the em1 ecu. Once acquired, remove jumper harness and plug it in, you might end up with some codes but we'll have to go from there.

Alright. Thanks. Are there any other, maybe cheaper/smaller things I should also check before I buy the ecu?

can't tell atm but you can start with the ecu asap, so that we can see what emissions codes are coming up (if any at all)

If I do end up getting the usdm obd2b p2t em1 ecu, how will it react to the JDM b16? Would that be the reason for more codes to show up, other than the o2 sensor?

You'll probably need to check for your secondary o2 sensor, crank sensor (can be bypassed but I like to keep everything working as it should). Hopefully your obd2b charcoal canister wasn't removed.

I'm going to replace my o2 sensor either way. Would my crank sensor throw a light? Is there any way I could find if I still have my charcoal canister? What does it look like and where is it? I was reading and I think somewhere in the fuel tank? But idk.

Look under the battery for charcoal canister. tall and oval, has a one brown plug going to it, couple of hoses.

I believe it will throw a cel and your car will drive "funny".

First off. I just want to say thanks, a ton! You keep giving me advice and the motivation to fix my car. I am looking in my bay, and I think I see it. Brown plug going into it. And the thing is sitting on top of this oval canister. Its next to my battery though. So I do think I have it still. What happens if I do and don't have it? Thanks so much!
