Does anyone have any of the new civic's? If so what have you done to it? My dad wants to buy me one for college but I would rather get an older model hatch or something.

I have a 2001 Ex and I love it. I have a thermal R & D exhaust and an AEM CAI so far. If you are looking to mod it out not alot of parts are out right now but give it some time. Its all up to you and what u would rather have a new car or a used one.

IMO, and i do mean MY OWN, i would get a 2002 Civic Coupe LX.... save up lots and lots of $$$$. And when you have like $4-5k.... drop in a K20A2. Put some wheels on it, give it the appropriate suspension mods. Intake/TB/Header/Cat/Exhaust/Hondata ECU and you are looking at a car that can kick some modafudging ***!!! And thats with basic bolt ons. Thats what i would do right now!!!

IMO, and i do mean MY OWN, i would get a 2002 Civic LX Coupe, and than spend the apropriate amount of time saving up every penny you make till you have $4-5k. Than i would drop in a K20A2, that is with the aid of a hasport mounting kit that they already have made that is or should be available very soon to the public. It would be nice as hell. Than save up for the appropriate suspension, wheel and brake mods need to get it to perform at its highest, and you will have one hell of a moda-fudging sleeper. Imagine the potential of that car in the long run with Intake/TB/Header/Cat/Echaust/Hondata tuned ECU. It would be AMAZING!!! Remember this is what i would do if i was offered an '02 Civic. Try to get your dad to get an RSX, they be some hot $hiat! Let us know what you do man!! PEACE!

::Edited:: It said that it did not post the first time! Sorry guys!!!

My GF has a black 2002 EX with Neuspeed lowering springs and
16" Rota Slipstreams in black. It's a nice car to roll around in
but performance wise forget it.

I assume it would be more upward in the ballpark of 6-8k for a brand new motor, plus laber, and misc other things.

Yeah your probably right...... i correct myself.
the apropriate amount of time saving up every penny you make till you have $7-9k. Than i would drop in a K20A2, that is with the aid of a hasport mounting kit
.
Now i say IMO, fudge this idea... B18C5, same mods as listed above. Drop it all in an EG or EK, and you'll have an awesome machine. Thats what i plan on doing + a lil extra somethin somethin! LoL. PEACE!!!

Honda quit making CiViC's after 2000. The 'new' CiViC's, so called, are actually nothing more than a CiViC badge hung off a generic body structure. This is called the 'Global Compact Platform' vehicle. It is no longer a sub-compact; it's a compact car now, i.e big and heavy. The 'new' CiViC shares the same body structure with the CR-V and Stream mini-van. Gone are the twisted double-wishbone suspension, rod shifter, yada, yada, yada...

If your choice is a 2002 CiViC or nothing, at least get a coupe. Coupes were conceived by a Honda design team in San Diego and made specifically for the U.S. market. The sedan was designed in Japan as a 'world car' and it's a total POS.

Really, the best CiViC's made were the '92-'95 series, a.k.a. 5th generation. They were the '55 Chevy of the 90's. They will never make another CiViC like them. Kinda sad, when you think about it.

Having said that, if you're looking for value, the '99-'00 CiViC Si was an instant collectible and will never be worth less than you pay for it. Something to think about...

Anyway, hope this helps!

i would go for 92-00 civics just cuz if two people were given the same budget one person having a lets say a 96 and the other a 2k1 civic the one with the 96 could make his faster for cheaper. Since the i-vtec has come out the d17 motor in the 2001 has been looked over for the time being. but i am sure within time it will be just like the previous gens. meaning it will have the same amount of mods in time.

As much as I hate this guy, I agree with what he said 100%. The new Civics are junk. IMHO.

The 92-95 Civics agreed are the best Civics for modifying, but the 96-00 is a definite improvement in comfort and build quality and they can be modified in all the same ways as the 92-95 with relative similarities of difficulty.

I agree that the 92-95 Civics were better, but the CRV was always built on the Civic platform, but so was the Integra.
