'04 V6 MT6 clutch/gearbox trouble
So I've picked up this '04 Honda Accord Coupe 3.0 (J30A4) V6 MT6. The engine is amazing; I'm very much impressed -- this is exactly what I was looking for.
But when I do power shifting from 2nd to 3rd then the gears clash badly (I mean really badly -- I'm cringing and my heart is breaking). Same if switching back into 3rd at high RPM.
But the worst is: I've accelerated at full throttle in 2nd driving up on a highway. I shifted into 3rd (a bit of clashing of gears), then tried to shift into 4th. I was able to shift out of 3rd but then unable to shift into any gear -- and the clutch pedal was "stuck" halfway in (or out, depending on one's view). I had to roll to a stop: more clutch pedal pushing, but no change in its position. Then I turned off the engine and restarted it -- and the clutch "released" and everything worked again.
If I drive the car at relatively low RPMs and doesn't attempt to power shift then the car (clutch/gearbox) works just fine (not even the clashing of gears when shifting into 3rd).
So what gives? Which part of the clutch fails at high RPM/high torque? I'm not well versed enough in the details of the clutch mechanism to be able to diagnose the problem.
Please help!

Good luck. My answer to your question has always been that Honda just made a crappy 3rd. I'm on my second transmission and both have problems with 3rd gear.
Btw, sorry, but I can't really offer any advice on the sticky pedal.

First off, the 6mt is known for bad 3rd gear synchros. Mine grinds on occasion bit nowhere near as bad as yours sounds.
Second. Sounds like you need a Clutch, flywheel and/or slave/master cylinder. Mine had a BROKEN flywheel when I bought it. If pedal is stuck in middle I would vote bad slave.

Well, they're going to replace the whole clutch assembly w/ a new & improved clutch design; same for the 3rd gear stuff, including the synchro(s). It is going to cost me an arm & a leg & my firstborn, but it'll be better than new.
