This question isn't for me, it's for a friend of mine who owns a 1996 Honda Civic EX Sedan (Canadian Version). He is wondering if the climate controls from the Acura 1.6EL would swap into his Honda Civic without any modification. Reason he is wondering, is because he wants to find a climate control (sliders) that will light up Amber to match his Honda Civic SiR Gauage Cluster. Does anyone know for sure if this would work? If not did the 1996 - 1998 JDM Honda Civics come with Amber coloured Climate Controls?

Your help would be appriciated, thank you.

 

Order the bulbs from the SiR (orange lighting). Put the little orange covers on the climate control bulbs from the EX. The EX has blue covers, ditch those. I did this on my 98 Hatch, and it is perfect. The JDM heater control is the same unit with orange bulbs rather than blue ones. Bulbs are much cheaper than the whole unit.

 

Yeah, what OE Tuner said. Just swap the bulbs unless he's looking for a different physical look. There's only two of them, however, getting the climate control out is a bitch and a half. Tell him to be careful with the air mixture slider cable mount thingamajigger... I broke one side of the clip that holds the cable sheath steady, so I have it ziptied in there, and there's a lot of play in it and I expect it will break at some point.

 

Well his car was broken in (third time), and they tore apart his center consol. So it's already ready to be accessed. :lol:

 

I've been looking forever for those OEM bulbs. Where can i get them w/ the little amber cover. Do you have a part number or something?

 

No I am afraid this is impossible. Since every civic and similar variant are hand made and each part is individually fabricated, no parts can be interchanged between them.
