2001 Accord EX Lights questions.
I have a 01 Accord EX. My wife SWEARS that before I switched out the light/blinker stalk that there was a AUTO written on it for the auto on headlights. I do not recall it. Is there a sensor I can look for that will tell me if it had it or not. I do not have my old stalk so I can not verify her claims, ha ha ha.
I told her there is no way it had it or I would have got in the car many times after she drove it and I would have had not had to TURN the lights on.
Also, when I got the car the light for the clock did not work and when the lights were on the illumination of the selected gear in the instrument cluster did not come on when the lights were on. When the lights were off that allumination did come on to show what gear your were in.
yesterday she left the lights on. Had it jumped to due to dead battery now said not working lights work when the lights are on. What happened???

1. The 2001 EX and EX-V6 models had an Automatic Lighting Off Feature. It only turns the headlights back on if you previously left the headlights on.
On vehicles equipped with the Auto-off Function, the headlight relays are controlled by the driver’s/passenger’s multiplex control unit. If you leave the headlight switch in the HEAD position and exit the vehicle, the control unit will automatically turn the exterior lights off within 15 seconds after you close the doors. When you unlock or open the driver’s door, the control unit automatically turns the lights back on.
The parts are different, even though you can plug the connector into the different parts, the combination light switch is different internally. The EX and EX-V6 switch had internal circuitry going to the connector plug's Red/Wht wire for the auto lighting off feature.
2. The clock not working may just be a blown bulb, which was common on 6th generation Accords.

ahhh, I just changed out my blinker/light stalk, I guess I got one that does not have the correct wiring/etc. DAMN. ha ha ha.
So how do I find the correct switch if I am looking in a pull and pay yard as I just did.

Also, the drivers door when you open it does not turn on any lights on in the car, I changed out the bulb in that door, still same issue. Is that ganna be a bad switch in the door jam?? Seems that when you open the other doors it only turns the light on the door you are opening as I seem to recall.
1. Look at the part number. For the EX, it should be 35255-S87-A01.
2. Interior lights not turning on with driver's door may be door jamb door switch or wiring. Take out the door switch and ground the one wire to see if the interior lights turn on.

That is the only part # that works? EX 4/6 cyclinder cars only?
What year range of cars is it out of? What about the Acura or whatever is Honda's upscale brand.

I went to the junk yard today. No part # on the blinker/light stalk as noted in prev post here. So I made sure I pulled one of an EX. I grabbed a door jamb button switch, now that works.
