Hello. Just bought my first civic
Hello. As my username suggests, my name is Nick. Less than a week ago I bought a 1998 Civic EX 5 speed with the d16z6 motor in it. I am an engineering student on a budget and my DD was about to hit 250k miles so I decided I may want something with good gas mileage to rack up the miles on instead of my current DD. I bought this one because it was dirt cheap and talked to the guy a lot and sounded like a good car. He sounded like a guy who knew what he was doing and had been working on civics for years. He got this car off a friend with a bad engine and had a D16z6 laying around from a swap he did in the past because he was boosting. He took the motor and completely rebuilt it top to bottom. Gave me reciepts of parts and labor and showed me pics of what he did himself so I know he did it right. The car also had a lot of new parts such as stuts, brakes, clutch, and more. He had bills he needed to pay that week so thats how I got it cheap. It also has a cheap paint job on it but the interior was nice. So far I like it but have a few things I would like to do to it. It does not have power steering or A/C and the cruise is disconnected. I have all the parts for the PS and the A/C (I think) and the cruise control unit to put them back on if I want. I'm thinking the cruise probably won't work because I have no idea why it would have been taken off in the first place. But I'm hoping it will last me a long time and be a fun DD for me. If you have advice on civics please let me know because this is my first civic or honda for that matter.

Depends on what all was taken out of the engine bay. Most people take those things out (and more you just can't see cause you're new) to make the bay look more "empty" I personally think the less in the bay the better it looks. Hondas are fairly easy to turn without power steering and I prefer without ha.. As for cruise control if all the pieces are there it should be easy to put back it but how far do you really drive where you have to have cruise control, personal preference I understand. Looks decent though have fun with it

Thanks everyone. I'm enjoying this little car. Gas mileage is great. Also my first 5-speed, always wanted one since I grew up around atvs and dirtbikes so I've been shifting gears since I was about 8. I don't have any immediate plans for it since I don't really have the cash right now and I picked up the car real cheap so any money dumped in it would probably double what I paid for it. I would like to get some window tint for it though (hate clear windows, feel like I'm being watched all the time) and maybe eventually find some 16" wheels for it. Been a PITA lately for me though. Driver side window keeps falling off track cuz its missing that rubber channel piece that sits in the metal track piece but only on the front for some reason. Probably gonna try and find one at the junkyard since that **** is over $50 or rig up my own to fill in that front part. Coincidentally, my passenger window motor/regulator went out the same day I worked on the driver side so I ordered a new regulator/motor combo with lifetime warranty since those things go out all the time.
