NJ inspection passing with a 97 EX with a JDM B18C
Hey guys,
I have a 97 ex with a JDM B18C . It currently has a p73-003 ECU installed. I also have an obd1 ecu chipped for it, but neither will not help me get an inspection sticker. Anyway, I tried to find a place that would pass me but everyplace I knew no longer does it.... Looks like I'm doing going to get a sticker the legit way.
The P73-003 won't talk to a scanner. I was told I need a P73-A03 ecu. I have not been able to source one. I've been driving around with no sticker. What do I do? How do you guys pass NJ inspection with a motor swap similar to mine?

I don't know specifically what NJ looks for but if its a scanner setup you're going to at least need the following as they are all potential items that will cause a check engine light:
-USDM ECU, you could use a P2P temporarily or look for a USDM ITR ECU
-bypass CKF as the JDM one won't have this
-if you don't already you'll have to hook up all your EVAP system
-if your engine doesn't have the VTEC pressure switch you'll have to bypass this as well
-if you don't you'll need to have a catalytic converter and the secondary 02 hooked up
-clear up any other check engine lights you might have

NJ just looks for a cat, and makes sure your car hooks up to the scanner, readiness monitors are set, and no codes. so I need:
A03 ECU.
Fix the bypass CKF thing I did (I have code 9).
evap is good.
i have a cat and header pipe for the car.
not sure about vtec pressure switch, but I only have code 9 for the ckf.

Oops. Typo by me lol. Meant crank code. OK cool so an a03 will cause that vtec code. Man what a headache getting this legit
