Default S20 Transmission

To whom may know,..Im a little in a mess.!!! Just swapped a 5spd S20 out of my '96 civic, with another S20, from look to be identical. Axle spines won't seat Im thinking the guy I bought this one from said it had comr out a earlier 90's model. any comments? lol, oh and they both have the S20 at the beginning but diff, numbers following..,?

S20 = 92-95. Different numbers following only matter about the gearing. If the axles won't seat, either you're installing them wrong, or the PO sold you a bad transmission with a torn out differential.
