Hello,

I recently acquired a 1997 Acura CL 2.2L 5 speed (210,000 miles). There are a few things i cant seem to figure out. First of all the ABS light is on. Sometimes it comes on as soon as i start the car other times it will pop on once i surpass 10 mph or so after it makes that buzzing noise. I thought you can jump the blue connecter under the glove box similarly to how you do it for the CEL. However when i jump the connecter the ABS light just remains SOLID. NO BLINKING. I am pretty puzzled on how come its not flashing and relaying me any codes???

Secondly the vehicle has a pretty weird, not consistent front end shimmy that feels like its originating from the front passenger side wheel/suspension. It seems most dominant around 50-65 miles per hour. It seems to be non existent above 75. Im guessing maybe i have a bad/off balance passenger side axle or worn CV joint?

Verify your fuses are not blown, there may be a memory fuse(7.5A) shared with some other minor ancillary such as mirror inside the cabin. Check under hood for the ABS relay fuses(15A). No memory power, or lack of relay power will cause the ABS light to illuminate constant with no code present. It also could be from an open circuit(same as blown fuse) or issues from electrical components or the ABS unit itself.

For wheel shimmy;
Verify all wheels and tires are of the same size.
Verify all tires are inflated to the same psi.
Verify all tires are wearing evenly.
Verify all wheel lug nuts are properly torqued to spec.
Adjust as needed and go for a test drive.

If shimmy still exists;
Rotate affected wheel with rear wheel and test again.

If shimmy still exists;
Check suspension components for wear and loose/missing components.

 

THANKS, front end shimmy was cause by an UNEVENLY WORN FRONT TIRE on the Drivers side. Rides like a dream now. As far as the ABS light I am still trying to figure that out and will follow your suggestions THANKS
