sounds like rod knock. and you need a rack and pinion son. appears to be valve cover gasket and dizzy seals are leaking

OP, you need to add car information to your first post. Judging by the valve cover and vtec solenoid, you got a Civic VX with the D15Z1 engine. And it isn't pretty underneath either.

Holy crap stop revving that engine. It's blown. It needs a complete overhaul. Also, D series engines don't use lifters. Cam -> rocker arm -> valve.

I like this video, gives good audio of what a tap sounds like compared to a knock. However, you have both and that is not good. Might not be all for nothing, but if you keep driving it like this it will be.

Don't be sad duuuuudde this is the perfect opportunity to start learning everything this is about your honda, and there's more than enough information on this site to diagnose/fix your car. All you need is a little curiosity, patience and some tools at your disposal. Could be fairly simple once you tear into the engine. You up for the challenge?!

Should have spent $150 to have a mechanic inspect it for you. Too late now, but maybe a lesson to others. I'd rather spend $150 on a car I didn't buy then $1500 on one I shouldn't have. Even $50 for a Carfax or Autocheck is worth it, in my opinion.

I hope everything works out for you.

I'd get my $100 back. Just looking underneath the car you can plainly see there are issues. Your inner tie rod boot is fucked up and everything is caked in motor oil. Seeing that I would not have paid $1500 for the car and we have even seen the condition of the rest of whatever kind of car it is. It does, however, appear to not have an original factory paint color any longer.

If you're going to try and rebuild the engine check out NotARacist's thread on rebuilding a Honda engine.

The P07 ECU is for the D15Z1 engine.

JDM D15B? Does your engine have a 3 stage or 2 stage VTEC - post pictures. Also post the block and head codes on the engine.

Top off the engine oil. Is the knocking and tapping now gone?

Buy 5W-30 oil.

Post a close up of the VTEC solenoid.

This post tells you where to find the head code.

I think you have the performance rather than fuel economy D15B. Post the head code to verify. If so, the P28 ECU is the better match for the engine.

In addition, the plug wires look VERY old, so you should do a full ignition system tune up if the engine is not toast after running it low on oil.

It also looks like you have an automatic transmission.
