B18C1 Oil Pan Sealant?
I'm about to reseal my oil pan on my 1995 Integra GSR and have a small question. I've done oil pans on other motors where a gasket isn't required and you can lay down a bead of RTV on the mating surface instead. Is it ok to do this on a B-series in place of using a gasket? I haven't gotten to cleaning the mating surfaces yet, so I haven't checked to see if there are recesses in the oil pan for the bead like in other pans I've done before. Although I'm not so sure that is much of a determining factor for if this is a viable procedure. Thanks in advance for your input.
youre better off with just buying anoyher gasket. cleaning the rtv off the oil pan might w easy but youll have a hard time going around the studs on the block and getting everything of completely
You must use a gasket. The oil pan has anti crush bumps that keep a gasket from squishing out.
Put a FelPro gasket on. It is a blue silicon rubber permadry type that is the best gasket I have ever used in these motors. no sealer required except where the oil pump meets the block put a little dap.

Gasket it is then, thanks for the help. I see what you're talking about with the dimples/stops on the oil pan. A bead of sealant wouldn't have worked anyways. I picked up a Felpro gasket today and will use it once I get my rod bearings in and installed.
