Yesterday i realized one of my lost motion assemblies is missing. this is on a d16z6. The car ran and drove before i took this motor apart so im concerned because i dont know how long it has been driven without it.

I have already spent WAY more than i thought rebuilding this motor and i know that everyone will want me to get a new one or 4 new ones but i don't really have 60 to spend right now. and i just want to get this motor back in the car. I get paid again on the 15th and will probably purchase a new set of 4 from ebay.

What kinds of issues will that missing LMA cause?

 

I would not run any motor with parts missing. Did you ever find out what your other lost and found part went to?

Get some plastic organizing containers and start lableing stuff so we don't have to reassemble it for you

 

haha i have been bagging and labeling all my components all along and i have like 10 different exploded views of both the upper and lower halves of the engine and im following about 3 separate rebuilds to cover my bases.

i havent even gotten into the head yet i just havent had time so i am not sure about that other part i posted about, however, on 2 different forums everyone has been saying the same thing about it being vtec rocker arm pin. One guy even sent me pictures of his and it has got to be the same part. And a few people are saying it could be there from a careless previous owner which seems even more likely now that ive discovered that the motor has FOR SURE been taken apart and put back together with a missing LMA.

I mostly am wondering about the LMA because im not sure how long the car has been driving around without one. and if maybe thats one of the things that was causing it to smoke(white smoke from exhaust)/not idle correctly.
