anyone bother to rebuild power steering rack?
On both my cars, when I decided to drive without the power steering pump connected, both my bellow boots ripped. Then fluid got all over those little shield things that go at the ends of the steering rack. I don't know if fluid leaked because of the boots ripping or if the seals in my racks are allowing the fluid to leak.
My options- buy a refurbed PS rack off eBay for 146, buy one from auto zone for 176+ core or rebuild my rack.
For my rack I would need inner and outter rods- (120$) Moog. bellow kit(15$) and new seals(40$).
Pretty much to rebuild the rack is as much as the refurbed one butiinstead of their brand inner tie rod I would be using Moog...

the boots have nothing to do with containing the fluid, they are dust boots, if there is fluid in them, the rack seals are bad, the hose that runs from one to the other, is just to equalize air pressure in the boots. I don't know on your year, but usually the Honda factory service manuals, have really good info on rebuilding the rack, maby you can pick one up cheap on ebay or something
