93 Civic/b16 swap - Happy Thanksgiving...or not - many problems
Afternoon all and Happy Thanksgiving. I tried to visit my family and the car was acting like it wasn't going to make it. I have been having some problems and thought I fixed it by replacing the igniter.
Currently:
1: The car gets a funny tach signal while driving that varies by up to a thousand each way randomly and quickly.
2: The gauge cluster lights will not work randomly.
3: The engine has started (again) hesitating and almost stalling under idle. I saw the CEL flash while it was having trouble for the first time.
4: It shocks you when getting in.
Before I replaced the igniter it was acting the same minus the tach but had degraded to the point of horrible mileage and dying constantly. Also it had the problems the worse when warming up and couldn't warm up for more than 15 minute without dying. It started stalling at idle or driving starting around every 30 miles and got to as bad as every 30 feet before I had money to fix it.
After I replaced the igniter the car came back to life entirely more power than I had ever felt in it. Within a few thousand miles the same sort of problems are happening. I'm worried it's a problem under the dash as my windshield has been leaking water right on the drivers side electrical cluster.
The car is a 93 b16 swapped 4 door with stock engine plus milled rebuilt head plus bolt ons and a high pressure fuel pump at 150k miles. Up to this point the car has absolutely perfect engine wise and just got 200 miles on a half a tank at 90 mph. It is a work car so I need to get back on the road my Monday if possible. THANKS GUYS AND HAPPY THANKSGIVING.

What car with stock B16?
Last tune up (plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter)?
Did you Ohm test the coil?
Pull the CEL codes and post them.
------------------
Check whether the dimmer switch connector or fuse 19 is loose.
Clean the IACV and FITV.

In addition to RonJ's questions, exactly what "high pressure fuel pump" did you install? Why? What is your current fuel pressure at the rail?
Thank you. I will test the coil when I get back home and there are no CELs currently. I installed an aem at full pressure but its been getting 40 mpg. I have a regulator in the mail.
I will clean the fitv and iacv and I have tuned up the car frequently. It got fuel filter plugs wires cap and rotors along with a rebuilt milled head less than 15k miles ago.
