Default is there a difference between clutch alignment tools

For d series is there a difference of tool options? Like if I need to replace an 88 clutch, do I need an 88 si tool only? And for an 89 also? Just wondering because of the whole spline count difference.

yes, you would need different tool. 88 input shafts aren't the same as 89-91.

Most clutches are supplied with a generic one. You don't need a specific one, it's just a plastic stick that aligns the clutch disc while you torque the pressure plate down. I used a broom handle once haha.
