Hello. Not much of a car guy here and I've got a few (hopefully easy to diagnose/fix) problems with my car at the moment. Firstly I noticed quite a lot of oil around the engine. I cleaned it all up about a week ago and this is what it looks like now :
Any ideas? I'm hoping with this pic its pretty obvious to someone who knows that their looking at. It seems like a slower leak as I've put cardboard under the car and it didn't get any oil on it but I've been checking/topping off the oil every couple of weeks.
Another issue is my SRS light. It first came on a long time ago and after unsuccessfully trying to retrieve the the code with a cheaper code reader I took it to Honda. $100 later they said that it is the drivers seat belt. I've reset the light but it just keeps coming back on within a few days. Anyone know if I can just get a new seat belt off the net or a wrecker and put it in to fix this? I think Honda said it would cost like $250 or something like that.
Re: 2003 Civic sport oil leak and SRS light problem
replace the black plug you see in middle of your picture (cam plug), it just is most likely the oil leak (could still be the valve cover gasket ,but try the plug first and monitor leak
plug just snaps in and out
as far as seat belt code the belts are lifetime warranty according to several post on this issue/code on this site and the latch (part that sets the code) should be replaced for free under warranty (i hope so because i have the same code and will have fixed while they do airbag recall fixes)
Re: 2003 Civic sport oil leak and SRS light problem
Thanks for the suggestions. As far as the seat belt goes the dealer told me it was not under any warranty and that I'd have to pay for it. (I'm in Canada) not sure if that makes a difference or not. I did find a video showing a fix for the seat belt though. Probably trying to tomorrow I'll update here with what happens.
