89 civic si clutch change question
Hi Guys,
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I am about to change the clutch and according to the fsm I need to hoist the engine to unload the mounts. I have changed everything on this car except the clutch so it will be my first time. I have changed clutches before on other vehicles though.
So did any of you guys need to hoist the engine a bit when dropping the trans? Also I will be doing this on my driveway using jack stands. I also have a floor jack.
BTW why does the fsm say to remove the distributor?
Thanks

its not too hard to smack the distributor cap and crack it when working in that area, and it sure makes more space to see what you are doing.
i have done changes with and without hoisting engine, instead using a jack under the engine with a block of wood between the jack and oil pan.

i have been wanting one forever, but i am also tall enough and strong enough I can lean in and pick the transmission up and put it on the engine. it does get old at times...
I'm strong enough (maybe) but definitely not tall enough 5'8'' to pull it out from the top. How on earth do you line the tranny up putting it back in doing it that way?
Also are there any odd sized bolts like 12 point that I might need a special socket for? I remember reading somewhere the bolts that hold the pressure plate are 12 pt. And should I get a rear main seal in case that one is leaking?
Thanks
