Default Em1 B16a all motor build

Hey guys. I want some informations on building my em1 B16a. I want to go all motor by buying skunk2 stage 1 cams and gears with valvetrain springs.

What I have now is chipped Ecu and intake that's all.

I'm looking forwards to buy DC header (4-2-1), test pipe, and brand exhaust system later.

My goal is to gain at least 40 HP reaching 200 HP from 160. But would that be possible with what I'm looking to buy?

Thanks. Anything helps.

200whp from a 1.6 all motor? lmao even getting a jdm type r there takes a fair amount of work and that's stating at "200hp". Go 1.8 or 2.0 that list is a joke especially that DC header, tuner 1's are just a slightly more aggressive 98+ ITR cam when you get down to it. all motor on b-series is hard vs a K20/4 which can be achieved real easy(200whp stock k20 is nothing new) through a kpro and a good tuner.

what do I recommend?... don't go all motor but if you want at least start with a better platform like a b18C-R or hybrid b20v, cams bolt ones and a GOOD tune could get you there but even then its money waste vs FI. been there done that achieved 248/162 whp/tq but it cost alot and wasn't really street friendly, that was a 85x89mm b20v at 11.5:1 C/R with pro1 cams.

200hp...even at the flywheel, is challenging on a B16A. No...you won't reach that power with cams, a DC header, and a chipped ECU. You will be choking the motor out with any DC header I can think of. Id assume you'd make about 180ish at the crank (155ish at the wheels) with cams/I/H/E and an ECU and a tune. It's all pointless and very expensive.

Buy a B18C-R. Sell your B16A. That's the cheaper route to 200hp.

^^ Sad but true.

Either way you look at it, 1.6L isn't enough.

im thinking about getting cams, gears, valvesprings, headers, test pipe, and exhaust. starting low and ill build better motors when i have the budget. If 200hp is too much to reach for a 1.6L than ok. I guess i hope to grab at least 180. Thanks for all the help though, i appreciate it !

Headers, eh? Maybe you should go check how many exhaust banks you have under your hood before you start worrying about any power levels.

The B16A2's rated 160 was to the crank, not the wheels. Also, that's when the motor was brand-freaking-new. Depending on maintenance and how well the motor has aged, you'll be lucky to still have 150 on the crank. 200 is entirely feasible from a B16, it just takes one of two things. Option 1: Full engine rebuild, with raised compression (aftermarket rods and pistons), and a healthy bit of standard head work (cams and springs at the bare minimum, the more the merrier). Option 2: Strap a GT2860 to it and have fun with 300, for just as much as you would have spent on making that 200 all-motor.

Read the FAQ sticky. Once you've read that, head over to the All Motor section, as well as the Forced Induction section, and read those FAQs. Look at people with similar motors in both sections, and see what kind of power they're making, as well as how much work and money went into those builds. Once you've done all of that, decide on a realistic power goal and budget, and work from there.

If you're trying to decide on a power goal and budget in under 7 days, you haven't read the three things you need to.

Idk why people think a 1.6l engine can produce a **** ton of power?

Where do they get these ridiculous fantasies?

Oh wait. . I know

It's not even movies, it's just general ignorance. People don't understand engines, fuel, detonation thresholds, compression ratios, volumetric efficiency, or any of the other fun **** that goes into a motor's limitations.

Can a 1.6L make 200 BHP? Of course it can. Can it make it without forced induction? I mean...not easily.

A B16 can make 200 at the flywheel. Not with skunk2 stage 1 cams and a DC header. A B16B is only 15hp away in stock form.

Honda has been making big power with small NA production street engines for 25+ years.

Y'all some haters.

Though 200hp can be made with a 1.6l, like others have said, buying a B18C is a much better investment!!!! and, easier and cheaper to achieve that goal.

I don't know how many of you have seen it, but a guy by the name of Omniman was well known about a decade ago and made video's on how to make 200hp on a B16.

Parts:

- B16 engine
- cams
- lighter valves, higher flow
- higher comp pistons
- full gasket kit
- full bearing kit
- stronger clutch
- programable ecu

Labor:

- full rebuild
- polish crank
- head/seat work
- massive tuning

At the end of the day, you spent a lot of money and time, and have a peppy engine for sure, but still not very much torque. All the power is made at high rpm in vtec only

A B16B is also a special snowflake of a motor. Once again, that's also 185 to the crank, not the wheels, and assuming it's brand spanking new. Realistically, you're lucky if it still makes 160 to the crank, which is only something like 145 to the wheels.

For the price of a B16B, You'd be smarter to buy an LS, rebuild it with forged internals and raised compression, and enjoy more power and torque.

I never advocated a B16B...or a B16A...or even meth... to anyone.

I'm just saying. 200hp isn't hard...but it's pricey. People are acting like it's unheard of or just plain ig'nent to ask that much of a 1.6L.

I was the first one to recommend a 1.8L that already comes with 200hp and some useable torque as the most cost effective way to mod a B16A.

And...why would a perfectly good B16B...or any other Honda engine that's in good running order and maintenance have lost 25hp over a measly 8 to 14 years? There's dyno plots of 100+K mile S2000's, ITR's, and various K series cars with well over 100k on the clock that show 0 to very low power loss.

This isn't a flathead ford or 90's Metallica.

LOLZ@ 90's Metallica!

And true, Im not bashing on the little engine that could. But for the $$ spent to make that kind of power can be put to better use for forced induction. Then youll surpass 200hp and have a beast of a street engine.

So 3 grand for all motor 200hp or 3 grand for FI 300+ hp
