Icon2 2006 Accord Rear Defroster Malfunctioning

Hi there,

I own a 2006 Accord EX-L and the rear defroster is not working properly. When turned on, only partial areas of the windshield 'heat up' at that expected level/rate. This tells me that current is making its way into the copper wire, however distribution is uneven. When I inspected the copper wire I was expecting to see a break, however all areas of the windshield appear to receive some level of current. Over a long period of time (like 20 minutes), the whole windshield will eventually heat up. I have a photo of what things look like shortly after turning on the defroster, but since I'm a trial member I can't upload the image.

Any thoughts on what may be causing the uneven distribution of current? Is the only real repair replacement of the windshield? If so, what would an approximate cost be?

Thanks.

My 06 I feel is SLOW to defrost. like sluggish and annoying. Wonder if this is common.

This is what my rear windshield looks like when I turn on the rear defroster. Eventually the whole window clears up (like after 10 minutes) but some areas clear much faster.

yea 10 minutes and full speed driving doesnt even come close to that on mine. It DOES work, but omfg its slow. Not sure what to say about yours tho. If its unbalanced it may have broken spots in the warmer. Never had this issue til this car.
