93 accord trans help
I have a 93 Accord it shifts thru all gears just fine. But when you let off the gas pedal for a constant cruise its like there is a surge or jerk like it has a miss fire.It has been tuned up with new plugs,wires,tps,o2 sensor, throttle body has been cleaned, new fuel filter,IAC valves has been cleaned replaced trans lockup and shift solenoids.Replaced VSS sensor,EGR valve cleaned. And the cruise control works but I set it at 60mph and it drops down to 45 or 50.I have also checked for vacuum leaks.Replaced throttle body gasket.Changed the trans fluid. Is there a pressure switch, sensor ,or a solenoid on the trans Im missing? When it does this its at crusing speeds on open road. There is no change in rpms engine stays at a constant speed.Hope somebody can help or tell me what to look for.I'm tired of throwing parts at it with no results. Also the mpg is not the great
Now its surging when place in park then idles down to 1000 rpm.No I havent change the cap or rotor because the parts looked to be in good shape.I thought the coil maybe bad.then I thought the alternator because the drag when the cooling fans kick on.accoordturb96 what else do you think I should check

Mad Mike I didnt clean the EGR ports I just cleaned the EGR valve .Dont the runners have some kind of plug in thenm that you can only get a a dealer. Also where are the runners located?
The runners are the things that lead to the intake valve from the plenum. There are four. You have to pick up a Bondo dent puller slide hammer and then a set of egr plugs from the dealer. Then use a drill bit slightly smaller than the screw that comes with the dent puller. Drill almost through the plugs. Then attach the screw to the dent puller and screw the dent puller into the plugs and slide hammer them out. Then use carb cleaner to clean the tiny holes that lead to the runners. Thry are going to be gunked up pretty good. Then use a 1/4 extension to tap each new plug in.
OK here is an update on what I have done.I removed the plugs from the runners.Looked down inside the holes after removing the plugs it appears that about all the passages where clogged up pretty bad.Going now to the Honda dealer and get six plugs.Hope when I get done this thing will run like a Singer sewing machine.
Went to Flow Honda and got my EGR port plugs they just dont look the same as I pulled out these things look like mini freeze plugs I wonder if I can reuse the old ones.I didnt drill all the way thru them.just enough to get them out..Also wonder if I can use a small gun cleaner type wire brush on the EGR ports
The replacement plugs are stamped sheet metal. That is the correct part. This allows for the plugs to seal tightly. The old plugs will most likely not seal correctly and you will have a false air leak.
A vacuum along with a #1 and #2 flat head are perfect sizes for cleaning out the EGR ports.

Also wanna add that I replace the dist cap.I'm also getting a exhaust smell or gas smell .Replace the o2 sensor.Could a motor mount cause the studder at 2000 2500 rpms,I'm wonder about a MAP sensor, coil,a clogged cat convertor,Would a exhaust leak cause this back it needs backpressure very confusedThis is my daily driver please help
The main feed is through the EGR valve.
Port on the left feeds into the EGR valve.
Port on the right feeds the EGR manifold runner, you will see a raised portion of the manifold where the plugs were, that is the runner.
If you have a vacuum pump(mityvac) to manually control the egr, or a long enough hose to reach between the EGR valve and a main manifold vacuum port, apply vacuum directly to the EGR valve at idle.
The engine should stumble if not stall from EGR being 'on' at idle. If nothing happens, either the valve is defective or the EGR plenum is clogged.

I forgot I did replace the rotor and dist cap yesterday. Also another question I have where are the timing marks .And wonder how to adjust the valves.Would out of adjustment valves cause my problems.I'm also pondering on the idea of driving a rod thru the cat,is the a good or bad idea.
