Default Speedometer is possessed

I've read the many threads here, but I'm still having a tough time narrowing down what may be the culprit. Symptoms:

-bouncing speedometer that goes all over the place (seems to settle down after a while, but is NEVER accurate)
-cruise control works flawlessly
-NO blinking D4
-shifts perfectly

Can this still be VSS? Bad solder joints? Something else?

Thanks.

well have you check the vss on the tranny? Made sure it is plugged in well and the wires are not cut or shorting? The speedo cluster could be going bad as well

Wouldn't a bad VSS cause cruise control not to work?

I could agree with you there, I thought about that after I posted. Without looking at the schematics I would be uncertain. But that does give you a direction to follow. You didnt post your vehicle so I dont know what you drive. Many of the accords have had issues with the speedo cluster

Contact the vatican and schedule an exorcist. If your speedometer truly is possessed, you need to deal with it immediately before the demons inside it end up hurting you or your family.

Vatican concluded speedometer wasn't a bonafide possession. Instead, they recommended I come to Honda-tech for help.

the vatican gave u some BAD advice LOL.

I went thru 3 VSS and 3 speedometers before i got 1 to work. not %100 accurate according to my GPS but maybe the GPS has 10 sec delay between the satalite.

rule of thumb: Check Engine Light (CEL)= VSS
no CEL = speedometer cluster

despite the negative comments civics need replacement clusters also
