Looking for 2013 & 2014 CRV Owners Opinions on AWD in Snow
Hello, I am new to this forum. I am thinking about purchasing a CRV AWD. I would like to get some real opinions from real owners as to whether it is effective in significant snow and bad weather?
From videos I have seen, it looks no more effective than front wheel drive
But I am hoping I am wrong, as I would like to consider it.
I hope to get lots of opinions! The more the merrier!
Many thanks!

What do you consider significant snow? For northerners, its a few feet of snow, during storms like 12-24 inches.
To people in the south, Atlanteans considered 2 inches was enough to shut down the city.

Tires play a pretty big role, the height on the modern cr-v's seem sufficient enough with its 6.7 inches of clearance. I can't remember what the stock tires were, maybe bridgestone duellers in some cases. I found the Bridgestone duellers awful and mostly a street tire that's pretty bad for harsh weather.
CR-V's AWD capability is pretty good and can handle most situations you're throwing at it outside of mud bogging or rock hopping. Some beefy snows tires with AWD and it should be able to tackle most situations.
I had my 99 crv with various snow tires and could easily navigate normal snow falls of 6-12 inches during storms without much issue. 12 inches plus I never got stuck either with good snow tires on, just more patient and skilled driving.

Thanks for your reply. I AM talking about Northern snow. I need it to work for me in Northern Arizona, where snow is significant. Tires ARE important as you say. But I need the AWD to work.
I would like to get more opinions? I think Honda sells about 300,00 of these a year. There has to be more opinions about this?
Thanks

I'm not sure if the snow is more significant than the 1-2 feet of snow I experienced in Michigan. this combined with ice, and sleet. I never really had any problem transversing, but this is in a older CR-V. There's no locking diff in the newers ones, or any of them, but the smart traction system I was told was pretty decent.
