Just look at the cap. Internal coils have no coil wire coming off of it.

What kind of engine swap/setup are you running ?

Use your existing distributor not the one that came with the h22a.

Come on now. Turn the car to the on position and check for power at the ignition coil.If you have battery voltage, Pull out your multi meter and check resistance across the primary and secondary of the ignition coil. You will know if you have an internal or external. External there is a big "box" above your distributor with a 3 wire plug. If not, then the coil is internal. Or, if you live close I like to make easy money and I will do it for you.

The lude i bought was non running and had the swap already in the car so i do not have the old distributor and the only thing i havnt checked yet is the coil the igniter seems to be fine and is ready between 1300 - 3000 oms. It is internal coil.. what is wrong with h22a distributors? Known for failures?

If you are jumping the starter then the issue is either the ignition switch or the clutch safety switch.

Sometimes the black stopper for the clutch pedal breaks. Check it.

Is the clutch safety switch the plug looking thing on the tranny with a yellow wire and another colored wire with bullets on it?

The clutch safety switch is at the clutch pedal. It will be what the clutch pedal touches when almost fully pressed.

There should be a wire connected to a connector on the starter at a black plastic grommet.

If both are not in use will it cause the ecu to not let the distributor send spark to the plugs?

There are two wires that connect to the starter, one big, one small. The small wire comes from the ignition switch and connects to the starter solenoid, but the clutch safety switch is part of that circuit too.

So even though im jumping the starter i will have to have that small boot connected for the ecu to tell the distributor to send spark?

No, the ecu looks for a signal from the crank sensor inside the distributor before sending spark.
