Dealer cost:Fuel Service, Valve Adjustment, & Spark Plug
Hi
I have a quote for fuel service, valve adjustment, and new plugs for $630.00 at the dealer. Just wondering if the price seams about right?
2002 Honda Accord Coupe V6 with 197,000 miles.
Fuel service: I think I had it done several years ago. Is it the same as a fuel injection service?
Valve adjustment: Never did it. Since it was recommended, I will get this service.
Plugs: Replaced them myself a couple of times. First with cheap plugs that only lasted a year and then replaced them again with the OEM platinum plugs.
I've managed to do things myself over the years, but I can no longer do it because of my back. Brakes, struts, fluid changes, etc. Now it sucks that I have to pay these kind of maintenance!
Feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Unless you car is making valve tap sounds its not even needed. You can get some fuel injector cleaner and that will work fine. I like the lucas fuel treatment. Ive never changed spark plugs on a honda v6, but on my camry it was sort of a pain. It all depends on if theres room. I needed to use a universal joint to get to the back 3 plugs.
The issue, cause for the price, is that the intake has to come off to get to the valve covers to check/adjust the valves.
If the valves are making noises/sounds, you might call around to some local shops that specialize in Honda/Acura cars.
And at 197K, you should be coming up (if you haven't already) on a timing belt replacement "job".

My first timing belt service was done at around 150k. I was on borrowed time. Stupid? Yes! The reason I waited was because 70% of the mileage comes from freeway driving. I live in CA where the weather is mild. I still got another 50k to go before the next service. I think the next time around I will just replace the belts.
By that time, the car will almost be 14-15 years old.

Ok, I was just going with the timing belt idea as "sometimes" it hurts less if you go all in at once. Meaning, timing belt job, plugs, valve adjustment all at once.
Yes they can be done independent of each other without much overlap.
