Vehicle: 95, Ex, Vtec, AT

Hello guys, been meaning to ask about an issue for quite some time. Ever since I have owned this vehicle I can feel the rotation of the crankshaft thru the drivers seat when the engine is at 500 to 750 rpm idling -- almost as if it is a slight sound, but actually more of a sensation -- it goes wump-wump, wump-wump, on and on like that. It cannot be felt when driving or if I raise the idle. So, after the vehicle is first started when the idle is higher it cannot be sensed or felt. It is after the idle drops that one can sense and feel the crank rotating. I have never felt this in any other vehicle, that's why it has my attention. Btw, when I stand on the outside of the vehicle in front of the engine there is no sound other than the engine idling. The idle is perfectly smooth, not a blip on the rpm needle. The engine does not shake the slightest bit. I have been in cars with vacuum leaks and worn out motor mounts -- not even close to this sensation. Perhaps it is just a phenomena from the block not being cast iron or thick enough to shield this sensation out. My only concern is if this indicates a problem . . . ? Is this normal for a Honda Accord? If not, what could it be?

 

the timing maybe slightly retarded. advance the distributor a little and it may go away... these cars tend to vibrate a lot at idle if timed incorrectly.

 

This isnt a vibration. I should have used another description. I'll have to edit my post. I am going to check the timing anyway. Thanks.

 

Its possible one or more of your suspension bushings are worn, perhaps the lower control arm bushings.

If the noise was fairly high i would think maybe the balance shafts arent in time or maybe even the balance shaft belt isnt even installed. Sometimes people leave it off.
